Job title: Maintenance Workers

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Youth Department Manager, the custodian is responsible for providing cleaning and organizational services in four neighborhoods in Ottawa-South as part of the SCFS social enterprise pilot. The delivery of notices/flyers to 32 neighbourhoods in the Ottawa South area is also another task that is part of this pilot project. The successful candidate will partake in a comprehensive training program, while receiving valuable work experience.

Job Specific Responsibilities

Litter Pick-up

  • Perform general cleaning of garbage bins
  • Loose garbage pick-up
  • Must be able to lift 20lbs
  • Ensure all garbage around bins are cleared and properly disposed of

Flyer Delivery

  • Knowledge of Ottawa-South
  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations

Eligibility

  • Resident of the Ottawa South
  • Participate in all training, information sessions, and staff meetings
  • Always be prepared and on time
  • At least 18 years old
  • Available from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm from early April-early October
  • Must be able to submit a criminal record check
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Work as part of a team
  • Preference will be given to recent newcomers and OCH residents
  • Personify the SCFS social enterprise pilot project goals
